NSW: Man charged over fatal boat crash.

SYDNEY, Dec 5 AAP - A Sydney man has been charged over a boat crash that killed a 34-year-old woman and left him with serious injuries.

Witnesses told police the five-metre runabout was travelling too fast moments before it slammed into a bridge on the Georges River, at Sans Souci in Sydney's south, on October 21 last year.

The boat caught fire and sank a short time later.

The woman, from Kogarah in Sydney's south, was found dead at the crash scene.

The 38-year-old man was taken to St George Hospital with serious head, leg and internal injuries.

Following extensive inquiries, police arrested him at his Monterey residence, in Sydney's south, about 8.40am (AEDT) on Friday.

He was charged with aggravated culpable navigation causing death.

He was granted bail to appear in Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court on January 15 next year.
